Annapolis Green Drinks
Now in our 5th year!

In 2006 Green Drinks Annapolis started with just a few folks who were interested in networking events with environmentally minded people. Today our gatherings routinely draw 200 people and, along with our website –- AnnapolisGreen.com, we’ve provided the community with:

  • Unbiased information about local environmental issues;
  • Knowledge on how to live, work and play in an Earth-friendly manner;
  • Promotion of buying local and eating organically;
  • Support for volunteering with environmental organizations; and
  • Calls to Action to let elected officials know how we feel about local environmental issues.

Through our gatherings we’ve “practiced what we preached” by supporting the local economy and encouraging area restaurants and other businesses who’ve hosted us to Go Green.

We’ve held events at over 30 locations throughout the years. To ALL of our supporters, we say a great big THANK YOU!

Our success is rooted in our uniqueness. We are the only social networking organization to provide a forum where people who are involved or interested in all facets of Earth-friendly living and working can literally be social and come together in person regularly to learn, share ideas, make connections, get to know one another, conduct business and, oh yeah… have fun!

Looking to the future, we’re making it official and are filing for non-profit status. Entering into this new chapter
we will secure grant money and donations to expand our effect on our local our Green community. This will allow us to help fledging Green companies get started, sponsor educational and entertaining (that is, fun) programs,
provide a reference point for Green businesses, and share information in new and exciting ways.

We hope you will join us in our journey to Green! Let’s keep the momentum going!

It’s fascinating to learn of so many green related businesses and initiatives that have started up just within the last year. Our group's goal is to bring together all of us who share a passion for the environment and concern for our Chesapeake Bay. Casual, fun, unstructured .... with drinks and great green ideas! Pass the word and email us to tell us who we should add to our roster.

About Us

Long ago, in a place far, far away... No, not really. It started with a couple of friends talking about how it's not easy to get the big picture of Green initiatives in the Annapolis area. Why not gather info from the community and put it all in one place for the benefit of all?

That's what we're doing. The Annapolis Green website/Green Drinks combo was was the brainchild of Elvia Thompson and Lynne Forsman.

Lynne's a hospitality gal … over 25 years now, but who’s really counting? From a beginning with Marriott, opening a world class property in downtown San Francisco, to launching a meeting and incentive company, she finally “docked” in Annapolis to start up Nautical Destinations offering customized group charters on the Chesapeake! Her idea of a “Go Green” boating program set the stage for her next chapter – Green Drinks Annapolis! These days Lynne pursues her passions … you guessed it, hospitality and greening! In addition to Green Drinks Annapolis, she consults with Maryland Green Travel (under the Maryland Green Registry), works the eCruisers, “Advertising that Moves People” electric shuttles, and handles sponsorships for the Maryland Seafood Festival.  She’s involved in countless industry organizations including the AAACCVB and Green Meetings Industry Council.

Elvia is President of Stellar Presentations, Inc, a Board member of the Spa Creek Conservancy, the Oyster Harbor Citizens Association and the Annapolis Maritime Museum, and a member of the Anne Arundel County Steering Committee of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters. She is in the current Leadership Anne Arundel Flagship Class and a Watershed Steward candidate. Retired from journalism and a communications career in the Federal government that included time at the Department of Defense and NASA, Elvia heads a successful web and print design business in Annapolis.

We also have a loosely formed advisory/volunteer group whose members help us set agenda and carry out events. More on them soon.

We welcome your ideas on how to make this a real community effort, providing needed information to all.

Sponsored by the YWCA Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, TWIN focuses on women who are on the management teams of companies. The TWIN Award has been given to outstanding professional women who represent a wide range of ages, races and religions throughout the County for the past 25 years.
